Women on the Frontline, Hossein's feature documentary project on the Iranian women's movement in is post-production. Iranian women's movement is the largest nonviolent, civil rights, movement in the world. The film includes interviews with Mehrangiz Kar, Noam Chomsky, Fatemeh Haghighatjoo, Ayaan Hirsi Ali, and other activists and thinkers. Sheema Kalbasi, the president of Reelcontent Productions, is producing the film.

Phoolan Devi, the Life and Legacy of a Bandit Queen, Hossein’s Docu-drama on the infamous “Bandit Queen” of India is in the process of being funded.
"Born in 1961, Phoolan Devi was subjected to brutal circumstances of poverty and rape. Devi’s unprecedented transformations from a peasant, to a prisoner, to a parliamentarian will be chronologically exposed using key interviews from her family, friends, enemies and scholars. More specifically, the film will trace Phoolan’s experiences as the subject of gang rapes, leader of her own gang, involvement in an infamous massacre of 22 men, the 11 years she spent in prison and her assassination in 2001".
Legacy of Nonviolent Movements In Iran, Hossein's educational film on nonviolent resistance in Iran was released in May. Since then the film has been screened at a number of film festivals, including Amnesty International Film Festival in Vancouver. In January 2010 the film was broadcast into Iran by the VOA, as a result of which about 3 million Iranians watched it. Watch Director's Cut
Road Unknown, Hossein's feature fiction is in the process of being funded. The movie is about a gang of socially-conscious, eccentric, writers and poets in Berlin and what happens to them when one of their protest actions goes horribly wrong.

Hossein's latest Public Service Announcements (PSAs) have been released. The spots are on the importance of using nonviolent means of action to achieve social and political change.
Inscribed, Hossein's latest fiction has been release. Synopsis: Gidon is an unemployed architect who has to drive a cab in order to make ends meet. By accident he meets Bahram, a strange writer, who opens the Pandora's Box for him and pushes him to face his dark past. Genre: Psychological drama.
The Story of a Deadly Oil Rush, Hossein's documentary project on oil sands industry and its catastrophic impacts on the environment is in the process of being funded.
March 2008
Invited to Aarhus Film Symposium in Denmark. Hossein, along with three other filmmakers from the Netherlands and Romania, were invited to give lectures and hold workshops with film students at Aarhus University, European Film College and The National Film School of Denmark.
June 2007:
Short-listed by the Sundance Institute to participate in 2008 NHK/Sundance Filmmakers Awards. The award goes to filmmakers whom the Sundance Institute calls "the visionary filmmakers of the future".
May 2007:
Short-listed to take part in Live Earth, an event to raise awareness on climate crisis, funded by Al Gore. It took place simultaneously in 7 different countries on 7th of July, 2007 and was viewed by approximately 2 billion people around the world.
