A film is no good unless the camera is the eye in the head of a poet. - Orson Wells

Commandments

THE FOUR COMMANDMENTS

1. Movies should have something to say. Think of the movies like Rio Bravo, Great Dictator, High Noon, Asphalt Jungle, Seven Samurais, Bicycle Thief, Last tango in Paris, Breaking the Waves and many more that make you sit in the theater and forget about your popcorn!

2. Movies should be fun to make and to watch. John Updike says "the more I want something done, the less I call it work." A day spent on making movies should be a day spent on having fun. If it's not then something is wrong!

3. Movies should avoid stereotypical and simplistic approaches. Simplicity is not looking for easy answers.

4. Documentary movies should be made in a genuine manner and avoid manipulating the audience.

These four rules sum up my film commandments. Have I ever broken any of them? Of course. Will I again? Probably. But as the years pass I learn more and more how to stick to them.
